Let's Read a Good Book..... The Restoration of Celia Fairchild by Marie Bostwick

The Restoration of Celia Fairchild: A Novel

The Restoration of Celia Fairchild  by Marie Bostwick  was one of the best books I have read in a while.
First,  I loved the characters from the very first page and would love to have a besty  like Celia and her bff Calvin.  Second, it was set in Charleston, which I love, and I enjoyed the memories of walking down Kings Street and eating at Poogan's Porch.  The characters feel like normal, every day people,  with lives full of ups and downs, the way they all come together and become friend and family will leave you feeling good with a big smile on your face and a happy heart.   This is a book you NEED to read!

Thank you to #NetGalley  for allowing me to read and review this ARC.

Let's read a good book ..... The Forever Girl by Jill Shalvis

The Forever Girl (Wildstone, #6)

The Forever Girl( Wildstone #6) by Jill Shalvis

First, I have read every book in this series and loved them all.   Second, this book can stand alone and you do not have to have read the series to read this book.   Third,  for me this is not a beach read or a light read.   I do not find reading about abused or mistreated children, animal or the elderly light reading.   I had to lay this book down many times and come up for air because of the emotional content of what I was reading.  The writing will suck you in and have you living this book right along with the characters.   And no it was not explicit but the writing is such that you will feel their pain.  You will want to hug these  characters and tell them everything is going to be ok,  and you will wish you could have protected them as children.  About half way through  I was able to relax and enjoy the rest of the book and could not stop reading until it was finished.  Well done Jill Shalvis!!  Thank you NetGalley.   #theforevergirl   #Jillshalvis

Lets Read a Good Book.......isters by Choice ( Blackberry Island #4) by Susan Mallery

Sisters by Choice ( Blackberry Island #4) by Susan Mallery

I read an excerpt from this book and was so waiting to get my hands on the finished book since this is a series I have enjoyed.  Once I did it was a love / hate relationship.   I have a problem with parents who mistreat their children even in fiction so that part of the book bothered me to the very end,  all the other characters I enjoyed.  To say I could not put it down is and understatement,  I literately stayed up all night reading and I haven't done that in a long time.

Lets Read a Good Book........ Coconut Layer Cake Murder ( Hannah Swensen #25) by Joanne Fluke

Coconut Layer Cake Murder by Joanne Fluke

Coconut Layer Cake Murder ( Hannah Swensen #25)   by   Joanne Fluke

I enjoyed this book, it seemed to be more inline with how the series began. What I didn't enjoy was the references to things that had happened in the past books that were not explained. Does this author think that at one book a year we are suppose to remember every detail. I read around a 100 books a year and unless I'm reading all your series back to back I'm not going to remember a line you throw out like, when Norman hid under someone's bed. Maybe a little less recipes and a little more details would help the reader. My other question is just how much coffee can one person drink? These people must drink 20 cups a day. It felt like when the writer needed to fill a space the characters just drank coffee and ate a cookie.

Let's read a Good Book.......Royal, by Danielle Steel

 Royal

Royal, by Danielle Steel is a book that will grab your heart and not let it go.   I have  been reading  Danielle Steel since the 70’s and I always love them.   Danielle Steel  always gives you characters to love and some times to hate ( no haters in this book ) and she will give you scenarios that make you feel a part of them.

This is a modern fairy tale of a girl who is raised  as a commoner   but discovers her connection to the Royal family and is actually a princess.    This book is set in England from WWII through the late 60’s early 70’s.  There are names dropped of many places that we all have hear about because of Princes Diana and the current Royals ( Windsor Castle,  Buckingham Palace, Balmoral Castle).

The perfect escape  has once again been provided by Danielle Steel.

Thanks to Random House Publishing Group – Ballantine, Edelweiss and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book.

Let's Read a Good Book.......Christmas Cupcake Murder(Hannah Swensen, #26) by Joanne Fluke

Christmas Cupcake Murder (Hannah Swensen, #26)

The Christmas Cupcake Murder is (Hannah Swensen, #26) and I have read 25 of them.   Since Hannah has been married and done wrong, I was ready to see where that would take her ( hopefully into Norman’s arms) but instead this books takes us back to the early years.   If you are a Hallmark Christmas Movie fan then this is the book for you. It has a holiday spirit, wonderful recipes, interesting characters, and a really good mystery. The plot is light and sweet and unlike the others in the series there is no murder.   This Christmas time cozy mystery is about a nice guy who has lost his memory and the whole gang pitches in to help him regain it.  As always I enjoyed my time with Hannah and this group of characters, although I did miss Hannah’s little sister who is one of my favorites, and I look forward to the next book in this series.
Thank you  Kensington Books via NetGalley for my copy.
