Lets read a good book....An Island Summer by Helena Halme

An Island Summer: A Moving Story of Newfound Love and Old Passions Rekindled (Love on the Island Book 4)

An Island Summer by Helena Halme was not my cup of tea.  There were a lot of characters ( none of which were appealing ), the story jumped around a lot and was very hard to follow.  Since this was the first in the series that I have read I don't know if it would have been a smoother read if I had read the previous books.  I found the book very depressing including the location.  Just not my cup of tea !
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

Let's Read a Good Book......"The Four Winds" by Kristin Hannah

The Four Winds

I don't know when a book has touched me like " The Four Winds" did.  It is set in a time period I don't usually read and I kept putting off starting it but once I did I didn't want to put it down and at the same time it is so painful I had to come up for air every not and then.   These characters will become a part of you and you will feel like you are living every dust storm, flood and blistering hot day right there with them.   Even though I am a US history buff this book brought to life a time that I think gets skimmed over in history but you will never ever forget it now.   After reading this book you will be grateful for every bit of food, every drink of water and a roof ( no matter how many leaks) over your head.  I believe you will be profoundly different when you close this book.

Thank you to the publisher (St. Martin's Press) and /or author (Kristin Hannah) via NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

Let's read a good book.....Boone (Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas #3) by Emily March

Boone (Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas)

Boone  (Eternity Springs: The McBrides of Texas #3)   by Emily March.  This was my first Emily March book but it will not be my last.  The characters are all lovable and the story will suck you in and grab hold of your heart til the end.  Although this book works fine as a stand alone, I enjoyed it so much I want to read the first two books in the trilogy.  Even though this is a story with much   loss, it is much more a story full of love and hope.   The only negative is I felt the story left us hanging with the grandparents law suit story line.  It is mentioned once then never again.  There is one line about a grandmothers’ presence but since Boone’s mother is also a grandmother there is no clear distinction.  It would have been clearer to the reader if it had at least read “ Bri’s other grandmother” but I do think the reader deserved at least a page to clear up the whole situation or it should not have been thrown in at all.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for allowing me to read this book.

Let's read a good book ..... The Forever Girl by Jill Shalvis

The Forever Girl (Wildstone, #6)

The Forever Girl( Wildstone #6) by Jill Shalvis

First, I have read every book in this series and loved them all.   Second, this book can stand alone and you do not have to have read the series to read this book.   Third,  for me this is not a beach read or a light read.   I do not find reading about abused or mistreated children, animal or the elderly light reading.   I had to lay this book down many times and come up for air because of the emotional content of what I was reading.  The writing will suck you in and have you living this book right along with the characters.   And no it was not explicit but the writing is such that you will feel their pain.  You will want to hug these  characters and tell them everything is going to be ok,  and you will wish you could have protected them as children.  About half way through  I was able to relax and enjoy the rest of the book and could not stop reading until it was finished.  Well done Jill Shalvis!!  Thank you NetGalley.   #theforevergirl   #Jillshalvis
